Now that that is out of the way, I have to completely concur with Hubby (BTW - I also agree with you on the name choice...it just doesn't sound right) - how you ladies do this day in and day out is beyond me. Don’t get me wrong, I adore the time I spend with my girls, A and C, and wish I could spend even more time with them. And I’m acutely aware of the bond built by simply hanging out and giving them your undivided attention. I am amazed everyday at how A picks up on this and how she has no qualms letting me know that her mami is her favorite parent in 90% of our activities. Thank God Marta can’t compete when it comes to throwing her in the air or “flying” or it would be more like 100%. So when Marta told me she had a cooking class that would take place every other Saturday morning and asked if I could take care of the girls while she was gone, I was excited for two reasons. First, it was going to give me the opportunity to spend alone time with my girls, and hopefully gain on mami’s favorite parent lead. Secondly, and equally as important, I know Marta deserves some R&R time without the kids. So, now having two Saturdays alone with the kids under my belt, I have a few more points I would like to add to Hubby's comments below. First and foremost, I have a new found respect for what you ladies have done with this website. Just getting to this point of my entry has easily taken me half-an-hour because I have A climbing on the table and jumping on me non-stop. I swear we must be on jump number 30. I now also understand why my wife is usually in gym clothes when I get home from the office....there is really no reason to put on anything nice. As I look at myself right now, I’m clearly a mess. I have baby vomit on my right sleeve, baby food on my left leg, a nice big splotch of blood on my right leg from what has to be the largest mosquito I’ve ever seen (the sucker was in the car this morning and it was either him or me...my wife would kill me if I brought the girls home with a mosquito bite on their face so I had to go ninja on him), oh, and let's not forget baby formula all over me.

Well it looks like that is going to be all for now because baby C has clearly become impatient with me and is making it clear she wants me to pay attention to her right now! Wish me luck.

Hubby's First Blog

So, my name is “Hubby” thanks to my wife Judi, deciding to use that as my screen name. I would have settled for something a little cooler like, Dr. Baby Maker or Charlie CEO. I guess “Hubby” works…

It looks like I am officially the first dad to post on our new Baby Daddy Blog. Total brownie points for me! However, my fellow daddy bloggers are gonna give me s#@t the next time we get together for beers.

Now I gotta be honest, at first I was pretty annoyed when I was asked to do this. But for some weird reason, I kinda like the fact that my wife asked me to participate. I am really proud of her and I think this is pretty neat what they are trying to accomplish. It could also be that I am slightly hopeful that I actually contributed to what might one day be a multi-million dollar company allowing me to retire in the next couple years and allowing me to then dedicate my life to 9AM tee times, cocktails on the 19th hole, and season tickets to the Dolphins, Heat, Marlins and Florida Gators Football. (including Marquis Jet service to every game outside the 305 area code)…It’s nice to dream ain’t it…

Ok, so my wife went out of town for 4 days and left me to baby-sit my 14-month-old, stud muffin of a son, J. Can you actually use the term baby-sit when it’s your own son? Isn’t that just called fatherhood? We’ll leave that discussion for a future blog.

Now how on earth you women can do this job is beyond me. It wasn’t even the first day, and I was already wishing she was back. By the way, I am currently unemployed and I got plenty of time on my hands. I am actually trying to start my own business, but I had to put on hold all my work the last 4 days to play Mr. Mom.

What did I learn….I don’t even know where to begin. I don’t think I can do this as a full time job. Let me rephrase that, I KNOW I can’t do this as a full time job. How you women do it, only God knows. You would think I could handle it knowing there was an end to my experience, I mean, how hard could 4 days be? How my wife does it, I don’t even know. I really hope for the sake of all you mothers, it gets easier with time. I really do.

Speaking of time, I had no time for myself. I had no time period. Now, my son had a lot of time, so much time, that I wished time would move faster because there were times that I had nothing left to do with him. I mean, I took him to Home Depot twice…in the same day! I also thought I could take advantage of naptime to do my own stuff. You know, my ultra important life changing stuff, like surfing ESPN.com, pricing out dream cars online, and watching Transformers on HBO for the eleventh hundred time…Yeah that doesn’t work. When they nap, YOU NAP…I should have listened to her on that one. Took me 2 days to figure that one out. Day 3-4, I was sleeping like a baby, right next to the little guy!

Lastly, to all Dads out there, don’t ever, EVER, cut your sons hair when your wife is out of town. AND I really tried to do a good job. I REALLY DID! Mind you, I actually went to a barbershop with him to see how it would go. The little guy’s first time there. Three snips and the eruption started so we mayday-ed right out of the barbershop. So what did the grandfather and I decide to do. Naturally we thought we were gifted barbers so we decided to cut his hair ourselves….

The first thing out of my wife’s mouth after seeing our son was…What did you do? His hair is horrible, he looks like Hitler!

That’s the last time I ever do anything not asked of me.
